Our Restaurant

Leybato boasts an indoor restaurant, a large traditional opensided hut with a thatched roof and can comfortably sit 50 diners.  The restaurant leads to a beautiful open terrace that directly overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and sits up to 30 diners, both offering Gambian and International cuisine to guests and non guests.  We also cater for parties and group picnics on request.

Guests and visitors can also take their meals in any of our seaview thatched huts in our garden that come with tables and chairs and all eating areas come with a guaranteed seaview.

Our hammocks are a good place to relax after eating and just enjoy the ocean and watch the world go by.

Our menu offers you a large choice of African and International dishes of chicken, beef, sea food vegetables and a-la-carte. Our specialties are pepper steak, grilled lady fish and local dishes such as Benechin, Yassa, & Stew all made from fresh local ingredients.

The hotel sometimes offers African drumming and dancing in the evening during the tourist season.

"African dance is of many cultural differences in musical and movement styles.

These dances teach social patterns and values and help local people work, mature, praise or criticize members of the community. At the same time drums and dance are for celebrating festivals, funerals, competing, reciting history, proverbs and poetry; and to encounter local beliefs. African dances are largely participatory, with spectators being part of the performance, so expect to be invited to join in.

With the exception of some spiritual, religious or initiation dances, there are traditionally no barriers between dancers and onlookers. Even ritual dances often have a time when spectators participate".
